HOT NEW BAR OPENING
Founder of Catmosphere, Thomas Derricott has opened a brand new bar called Johnny Fontane’s and it’s best described as “imagine if the King of Swing and a mafia kingpin opened a bar together”.
Johnny Fontane’s features four distinct spaces: a Rat Pack/swing-themed downstairs bar; a Sicilian-style courtyard with a large central citrus tree and lush vines (sourced from the film set of The Great Gatsby), a “gangster lounge” for drinking and dining on the first floor; and the cigar deck with its retro-resort Cuban feel.
This will also be Sydney’s first venue where you can get the world famous Chicago deep dish.
Given its own spin by executive chef Cy Gwynne (ex-Longrain), the Chicago deep dish is cooked in a deep dish pan and is in between a pizza and a pie.
The Chicago deep dish is guaranteed to satisfy anyone’s tastebuds, as there are variety of flavours to choose from.
Get a taste of how they do pizza in Chicago with the Capone – the original Chicago deep dish, consisting of pork and veal meatballs. Perhaps, you might like to opt out for the vegetarian option, the Gambino – filled with marinated mushrooms and grilled zucchini.
The drinks menu has been created by The Bear Bar’s Andy Curtis and it focuses on three specialties: signature cocktails based on Italian liquors and wines and craft beers from Italy and the US. We highly recommend trying Nonna’s Lemon Pie and High Society.
